"I'm so sick of unicorns," says Combichrist's Andy LaPlegua about the song "Fuck Unicorns" from their new album We Love You (Out Of Line [EU]/Metropolis Records [US]). "They went from being something ironic and ridiculous, to an overexposed hipster icon. Fuck unicorns!"
In some ways, the peaceful and gentle unicorn can be seen as the symbolic opposite to Combichrist. To them, music equals mayhem and volume; the louder and the more aggro, the better. Their brand of head-pummeling electronica has been amped up and adrenalized. There are louder guitars, heavier drums, darker electronics and a lot more anger.
Kicking off the album is the disjointed and anthemic "We Were Made To Love You." LaPlegua imagines a "futuristic robot-controlled society", slowly setting up the listener for 13 tracks of relentless aggression and bass heavy electronica. From the stuttering thump of "Every Day Is War" to the choking-on-glass/buzz-saw aggression of "Satans Propaganda" to the breakneck punk metal of "Love Is A Razorblade", We Love You leaves you gasping for breath. The searing first single "From My Cold Dead Hands" is a crash course in everything We Love You delivers.
It's a paean that glorifies guns and the power they wield, and is as much a midnight dance-floor anthem as it is a personal statement devoid of the tired politics that accompanies the topic of guns. "I'm not a politician, and I don't expect my politicians to make music," he explains. "However, people are so afraid to say what's on their mind if it's not PC. I believe in the rights to have guns, and I believe in personal freedom."
Initially cutting his teeth in the seminal Norwegian hardcore bands My Right Choice and Lash Out, LaPlegua segued out of that scene into the electronic music world with Icon of Coil.

Originally a solo project, it morphed into a full band with the additions of Sebastian Komor and Christian Lund. Not only did IOC mark LaPlegua's first major work with electronics and dance beats, but it also granted him wider exposure beyond Norway; IOC was LaPlegua's first project to be released in the United States.
It wasn't until 2003 that LaPlegua founded Combichrist - the project that would soon dominate his time. A departure from IOC's futurepop sound, Combichrist took LaPlegua's hardcore past and electronica present and merged them into a singular, mechanical music monster. Without the compromise of the band dynamic, LaPlegua, who does everything in the studio himself on Combichrist releases, was able to explore whatever musical avenue he desired. What he found was a long dark road with plenty of twists and turns. The Joy of Gunz, LaPlegua's first release as Combichrist, was quickly followed by two EP's: 2004's Kiss the Blade and Sex Drogen und Industrial.
In 2005, LaPlegua was back at it again, releasing the landmark album Everybody Hates You.

Defying the dreaded sophomore slump, the second Combichrist full-length featured two tracks that would become club classics: "This Shit Will Fuck You Up" and "This Is My Rifle", and was also the project's U.S. debut on Metropolis Records. Further benchmarks were set with the release of the 2006 EP Get Your Body Beat, the title track of which landed Combichrist its first appearance on Billboard's Top 10 Dance Singles chart.
The years that followed brought three more full-length albums — What the Fuck Is Wrong with You People? (2007), Today We Are All Demons (2009) and Making Monsters (2011) — as well as a handful of additional EPs. Following the release of Making Monsters, they promoted it loudly by accompanying German friends Rammstein on a North American stadium tour, expanding their audience even further. At the tail end of 2012, LePlegua was commissioned to write the music for the CapCom videogame DMC Devil May Cry, resulting in over 20 tracks, many of which
appeared on the soundtrack album No Redemption. Not really a follow-up to Making Monsters, yet not really a side project, No Redemption was intentionally harder and more metal than anything that had been released previously. While it resulted in mixed reactions from fans and critics, No Redemption managed to topple the adversity and enjoyed a successful run.
Stretching their musical scope even wider, in late 2013 the band performed with a symphony orchestra in Leipzig as part of the Gothik Meets Klassic Festival. Paying homage to their history, they completed a series of "old school" shows to remind fans of their illustrious electronic roots.
With We Love You in queue to usher them into the next chapter, Combichrist is ready to return to the road with a new live show that showcases all facets of the band. And like all previous albums and tours, the fans can expect pure and unadulterated Combichrist. "One of my best friends said it the best, 'listening to this album sums up everything I know about you and music'," he laughs, "only bigger, more bombastic and even louder!"

Plagued by riots, protests, death threats, arrests, album burnings on US Christian TV, a nationwide investigation by German church officials, censorship, infighting, attempted suicides and actual suicide, some may say Christian Death has a black cloud floating above, yet in spite of all odds, they still persevere.

........Originally formed in Los Angeles by vocalist, lyricist "Rozz Williams", however, after achieving local recognition in Los Angeles and a local album release "Only Theatre of Pain", due to unrest within the group, he disbanded it. A year later, he joined Pompeii 99 formed by band leader, lead vocalist and guitarist "Valor".

Pompeii 99 was another L.A. band enjoying local success which was in negotiations with European labels and promoters to bring Pompeii 99 to Europe. French label "L'invitation Au Suicide" suggested that as Rozz was new in the band, he preferred them to reuse the name Christian Death. Rozz did not like the idea as he wanted a fresh start from what he considered bad memories, Valor was reluctant to give up the work put into Pompeii 99. However, they both considered the alternatives and along with the promise to record and tour in Europe, they accepted, Thus began a new incarnation of Christian Death.

The first internationally released album "Catastrophe Ballet" was recorded in the UK, then began the first European tour. Returning to L.A., work began on the next album "Ashes" as well as the release of live tapes. Plans for a follow-up European tour were underway when just weeks before the tour, once again, Rozz announced he needed a change due to his emotional issues, he wanted to disband, this time, however, the band was now an equal partnership under multiple agreements. After 3 years of hard-earned success, Valor and the other band members pleaded for him, not to give up. Despite these pleas, Rozz threw in the towel.With no intention of canceling the tour, Valor moved to lead vocal, the bass player became the guitar player, the guitar roadie became the bass player, so off they went to Europe without him.

With Valor now as frontman, the band relocated to London. From there, through a relentless campaign of single and album releases, several of which were top 10 indie hits enjoying exposure on the BBC, MTV and other European radio and television stations, meanwhile using the UK as a base to constantly tour Europe, here began the rise to international iconic status. By the early 90s, everyone with their finger on the pulse of innovation in rock music had heard of Christian Death.

News of this success had filtered back to the USA which encouraged people with influence, to incite Rozz, years after splitting the band, to illegitimately do some shows and recordings under the name which resulted in a legal dispute. Rozz was, however, unable to substantiate any claims of ownership as he had previously relinquished those rights years before, on the other hand, out of respect, Valor agreed to allow Rozz to continue to sell the few recordings made and misrepresented as Christian Death on the condition that no further records were made as such. Rozz moved on to other art and spoken word projects.

Enter "Maitri", female vocalist and bass player, the second most continuous member of Christian Death. Maitri originally from Holland, after attending music college, moved to London where she first met the band. Her first official debut as a permanent member was on the album "Sexy Death God". She has been a key figure in the band ever since.

Sadly on 4/1/1998, with a history of alcohol and drug abuse and attempted suicides (since the first tour), rozz hung himself.

With a propensity for innovation and sometimes outrageous art, concepts, and lyrics, the band has become an inspiration to a huge swath of bands and artists, including seemingly incompatible bands, most notably, Korn, Type O Negative and Cradle of Filth (as publicly stated). Christian Death has continued to tour 5 of the seven continents and released a staggering 17 studio albums and 2 live albums worth of music, unofficial and bootlegs not included, (discography attached). The band continues the tradition in 2017 while promoting the current album The Root Of All Evilutionan while also with a new album in the works and an upcoming US tour with Lords of Acid and Combichrist.

EN ESCH, Born near Frankfurt / Main, has lived and worked in Hamburg, Chicago, New Orleans, NYC, Los Angeles and currently Berlin. The classically trained percussionist is best known for his distinctive vocals and charismatic stage performances. He is a skilled multi-instrumentalist, programmer and composer and has enjoyed success with KMFDM and the diverse ensemble PIGFACE since the early 90s.
End of the 80s, EN ESCH and the electro-industrial outfit KMFDM moved to the US. A tour supporting the band MINISTRY was the starting point for their stunning carreer. Featuring bands like RAMMSTEIN as opening acts, KMFDM pioneered the crossover between techno/dance and heavy metal with their signature industrial sound. EN ESCH composed, recorded and co-produced on the first 10 albums and multiple singles of KMFDM including hits like: More’n’Faster, Godlike and Juke Joint Jezebel.

En Esch & KMFDM also appear on various soundtracks of Hollywood movies like: Hideaway, Johnny Memonic, Mortal Combat, Bad Boys etc. He was also core member of PIGFACE in 1990, writing, recording and touring with them until 1993 and again after 2004. He collaborated with Bands like KASTRIERTE PHILOSOPHEN, GIRLS UNDER GLASS, EXCESSIVE FORCE, SISTER MACHINE GUN, CHEM LAB, MORE MACHINE THAN MAN AND EDGE OF DAWN to name a few. After several successful years in the Techno-Industrial scene and countless live performances around the world, the striking front man and talented guitarist now enjoys a cult-hero status in EN ESCHs larger-than-life and commanding stage persona.

Today he is also mastermind, singer and frontman of his band “Slick Idiot“ which he founded with guitarist Günter Schulz after the original lineup of KMFDM dissolved in 1999. SLICK IDIOT has released 5 albums. The SLICK IDIOT song “Xcess – Remix by SCHNEIDER of RAMMSTEIN” was featured in in the US-TV series „True Blood“.

Since 2007 he is collaborating with german vocalist MONA MUR. The duo has released two albums as well as a collaborative album with FM Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten. 2015 will see the release of EN ESCH’S second solo album “SPÄNK” after a successful crowd funding campaing on PledgeMusic.
