Paying tribute to one of the greatest acts in electronic music as a 5-piece band is no easy task, and one that Earphunk certainly doesn’t take lightly when stepping on to the stage as Daft Phunk. Grown out of the late night after-party scene around festivals in their home city of New Orleans, Earphunk has only performed the Daft Phunk tribute a handful of times. ”The Daft Phunk show is something we only do on special occasions,” Earphunk guitarist, Paul Provosty says when bringing up the project. ”Without a doubt Daft Punk’s music is some of most influential electronic music of our generation. Our aim with the Daft Phunk show is to re-create Daft Punk songs organically with a live band, and put our own twist on it. No sequencers, no loops, 100% live instrumentation. Taking on this task was very time consuming and took months and months of rehearsals. We didn’t play the first show until we felt we could do justice to their songs. As of now, we have played seven Daft Phunk shows, and are ready to take it to a national audience.
